This piece was made from 1/8″ acrylic using a laser to cut the silhouette and to engrave lines on the surface. The front layer of acrylic is translucent while the back layer has an iridescent sheen. This was the first attempt using this media and is not perfect- you can see the adhesive through the translucent material but I hope that this piece can still be enjoyed despite it’s imperfections.

Please treat it with care as this material can crack or even shatter if dropped or bent with too much pressure.

The baku is a creature from Japanese folklore who is summoned at night to eat nightmares. They were a fashionable pillow motif during the Edo period in Japan and w this guy will be a great protector for your bedroom. For more on Baku and other Japanese folklore please visit Hyakumonogatari
