Cecil Beaton photographed everyone. Queen Elizabeth II. Audrey Hepburn. Truman Capote. He photographed them in rooms he often designed himself, with props and textiles he selected personally. The Cecil pattern – small medallion motifs, 4-inch repeat, the geometry of a very controlled obsession – appears in his work the way a signature appears in a painting: quietly, repeatedly, unmistakably.

Two of his most famous subjects were photographed in rooms where this pattern appears on the pillows. They were not friends. They were, by most accounts, the opposite of friends. The fabric was indifferent to this. It showed up for both of them.

This is Cecil: custom black on tinted Belgian linen-cotton ground. Handprinted in the USA. 52 inches wide. 4-inch repeat.

Cecil Beaton won three Tony Awards, two Academy Awards, and one knighthood. The fabric named for him requires no awards. It simply needs a room worthy of it.
